Server Training

Effective server training is the best way for the hospitality industry to prevent the irresponsible consumption of adult beverages. To help restaurants properly evaluate their server training programs—and to demonstrate the positive impact industry-run server training has had on reducing underage drinking and drunk driving—the American Beverage Institute has created the ABI Server Training Program Certification.

Through this program, the ABI evaluates server training curricula and certifies those that meet our high standards. To create our criteria, the ABI reviewed the curricula of leading restaurant server training programs, identifying eight key components of highly effective server training programs—standards that have made family restaurants the least likely source for underage drinking or drunk driving.

These standards help ensure that everyone involved in the serving of adult beverages, from restaurant managers to bartenders to servers, understands their role in making sure adult beverages are enjoyed responsibly.

If you would like to have your program evaluated to see if your program meets the high standards employed by America’s leading restaurants, please contact us.
